What is a Campaign?
A Dragon Metrics account will have one or more Campaigns. Each Campaign tracks data for an individual website, and data for this website is stored along with it (such as rankings, competitors, crawls, links, keywords, reports, etc.).
Data is stored separately for each Campaign. At the moment there is no way to share or copy data across Campaigns.
User Management and Analytics Integration
It's possible to control which users can access each Campaign, and which users cannot, as well as linking each Campaign to a different analytics account (such as Google Analytics). Campaigns can also be limited to the number of credits that are allotted to each one, to ensure fair distribution across all Campaigns.
One Website, One or Multiple Campaigns?
Typically, one Campaign corresponds to one website. But that does not have to be the case. You may choose to separate campaigns by different areas of the site (such as subdomain or subdirectory). It may be useful to separate different areas of the site (such as subdomain or subdirectory) into multiple Campaigns, especially if each area will have different users that need access to them.
For example, sometimes a site is divided into multiple languages/regions by subdomain. If each language/region will be managed by a different user, it would be best to split this website into two or more Campaigns. One Campaign could be set to "en.example.com", and the users responsible for the English site will be given access, and another Campaign could be set to "fr.example.com", where the users responsible for the French site will be given access.
Each Campaign will have one or more keyword groups. Keyword groups are sets of tracking keywords, search engines/regions/languages, and competitors.
Typically, it's more convenient to use a single Campaign if you want to track different sets of keywords for a single website in multiple search engines / regions / languages. Though it's possible to create multiple Campaigns for this purpose, some data will be redundant between the Campaigns, and the data will remain separate.
Separating tracking keywords into keyword groups allows the ability to track multiple sets of keywords in different search engines/regions/languages, each with their unique own set of competitors, all within the same Campaign.
The Campaigns page is the area where users can add new Campaigns, modify existing Campaigns' settings, manage keyword limits, and more.
This page can be accessed by clicking on Campaigns in the Settings menu in the upper-right part of the screen.
On the Campaigns page, users can:
- Add new Campaigns
- Pause a Campaign
- Activate a paused Campaign
- Delete a Campaign
- Modify Campaign settings
- Allocate keyword limits
1 - Activate Campaigns - Clicking the play icon will make un-pause any selected Campaign.
2 - Pause Campaigns - Clicking the pause icon will make pause any selected Campaign. (Not shown for standard and read-only users)
3 - Delete Campaigns - Clicking the trash icon will delete any selected Campaigns. Please keep in mind that deleting a Campaign will delete all Campaign data, and there is no undo action. Deleted Campaign data will be lost forever. If you're unsure if you want to delete a Campaign, consider pausing it first. (Not shown for standard and read-only users)
4 - Select All Checkbox - This checkbox will toggle between select all / select none of the currently visible rows in the table. To activate, pause, or delete a Campaign, you will first need to select it by checking the box next to the Campaign.
5 - Campaign Name - Clicking the Campaign name will take you to the Campaign details page, where you will be able to modify Campaign settings. Find out more about modifying Campaign settings.
6 - Status Indicator - The status icon will show whether the Campaign is currently active or paused.
7 - Keyword Credit Usage - Displays the currently applied keyword limits (if any) for the Campaign.
8 - Manage Keyword Limits - View and assign a Keyword Limit to the campaign directly. Learn more about keyword limits. (Not shown for standard and read-only users)
9 - Crawl Limits - View and assign a Crawl Limit to the campaign directly. Learn more about Crawl limits. (Not shown for standard and read-only users)
10 - Create New Campaign - Takes the user to the Campaign Details page where they can add a new Campaign. Learn how to add a new Campaign (Not shown for standard and read-only users)
11 - Keyword Credit Used - Showing you the total number of Keyword Credits available in your account and how many of them are being used
12 - Crawl Credits Used - Showing you the total number of Crawl Credits available in your account and how many of them are being used
