The Ranking Overview report provides a high-level view of the keyword ranking performance of your campaign.

This report summarizes data found on many of the other ranking reports, making it a perfect place to get started. If you see any area you'd like more details on, simply click the section header to dive into the full report.

What you'll find in this report:

  • Organic visibility and traffic index of all tracking keywords

  • Organic impressions and clicks from Google Search Console

  • Organic sessions and conversions from Google Analytics

  • Position distribution of ranking keywords

  • Keywords with the most traffic, biggest increase and biggest decrease

  • Comparison of your site's ranking SERP Features to other sites

  • Comparison of ranking performance based on search engines and tags

  • Your site vs. competitor ranking performance

  • Top ranking landing pages on your site

Getting Started

To get started, navigate to Ranking Overview under Ranking in the left navigation.

High-Level Metrics

The chart at the top of the page displays 4 important metrics summarizing your organic ranking performance.

By default, Organic Sessions (GA) and Organic Clicks (GSC) are hidden from the chart. Click the legend to show or hide a graph.

Position Distribution

This section shows the number of keywords ranking at each group of ranking positions. Here you can see how many keywords are ranking at position #1, how many at positions 2-5, 6-10, and so on.

The number under Position indicates the total number of keywords ranking within the position.

  • Entered means the number of keywords whose position was within this particular range on the last date in the selected date range, but not on the first date.

  • Left means the number of keywords whose position was within this particular range on the first date in the selected date range, but not on the last date.

  • % of the bar represents the percentage of all tracked keywords ranking in this position range.

Click on a number under Position, Entered, or Left to see which keywords were included in each set.

For example, clicking "75" in the example above will show you all 75 keywords ranking at position 1.

Position Distribution Trend

The bar chart shows the number of keywords ranking in different positions found on each date. Different color in the bar represents different ranking position ranges for keywords.

Hover on the chart to see the organic visibility, traffic index, and the exact number of keywords in different positions on each date.

Top Traffic Keywords

A list of the 10 keywords with the highest Traffic Index, representing keywords driving the highest amount of estimated traffic to your site.

Click on the Top traffic keywords section header to see all keywords sorted by highest traffic index.

Biggest improving keywords

A list of the 10 keywords with the biggest ranking increase over the selected period.

Click on the Biggest improving keywords section header to see all keywords sorted by highest positive ranking change.

Biggest dropping keywords

A list of the 10 keywords with the biggest ranking increase over the selected period.

Click on the Biggest dropping keywords section header to see all keywords sorted by highest positive ranking change.

Google Search Console

This chart shows daily organic clicks and organic impressions from the Google Search Console report. (Requires connecting your Google Search Console (GSC) account.)

  • Organic Clicks: The number of times searchers click into your website from Google organic search.

  • Organic Impressions: The total number of times your website appears in an organic search result for a user on Google (typically whether or not your result was scrolled into view).

Google Analytics

This chart summarizes the number of organic sessions and organic conversion from the Google Analytics Organic Overview report. This requires an integration set up with Google Analytics(GA).

  • Organic Sessions: A session is a group of user interactions with your website that take place within a given time frame. Organic sessions is the number of sessions received through organic search. Learn more about Google Analytics Sessions.

  • Organic Conversions: The number of times website visitors complete a desired action on your site, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a contact form through organic search. In Dragon Metrics, Conversions is equal to All Goals from the selected Google Analytics view, but you may choose a custom group of goals to define what a conversion is. Learn more about Goals.

SERP Features

This chart summarizes the number of keywords found in different types of SERP Features from the SERP Feature report.

SERP Features are result types on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) that are different and typically more detailed and advanced than a simple basic organic type.

The icon below each bar represents the type of SERP Feature. The number on the yellow portion of the bar indicates the number of keywords your site ranking on the SERP Feature. The number of the green portion of the bar indicates the number of keywords other sites are ranking on the SERP Feature.

Hover your cursor on the bar to see the type of SERP feature at the top of the tooltip, along with the number of keywords your site is ranking in this SERP feature, the number of keywords found with this SERP features, and the total number of tracked keywords.

In this example, we've found 35 keywords that include Sitelinks result in the SERPs, which is 4% out of the total 974 tracking keywords.

Our campaign tracking site has 16 keywords ranking on Sitelinks result, which is 46% of the 35 keywords including Sitelinks result.

Search Engine Rankings

If tracking more than one search engine, this chart will show a comparison of ranking performance by search engine. Click on the section header to view the full Search Engine Ranking report.

Click Trend to switch the chart to show changes in organic visibility over the selected date range.

Tag Rankings

This chart summarizes the organic visibility score of different tags from the Tag Ranking report. It helps you to view and compare your campaign's organic ranking performance by tags.

Top Competitors

This chart shows the top 10 competitors with the highest organic visibility score from the Tracked Competitors report. It helps you to identify the top competitors that you have added for tracking in your campaign.

Competitor Discovery

This chart shows the top 10 competitors Dragon Metrics found with the highest organic visibility score from the Competitor Discovery report. It helps you to identify potential organic competitors based on the common keywords ranking on the search engine with your campaign site.

Top Ranking URLs

This table displays the 10 URLs with the highest estimated organic traffic, showing the pages on your site likely driving the most visitors to your site. Click the section title to view the full Landing Page Ranking report.

Date Range

By default, ranking data for the most recent 30 days is shown. A date picker can be found at the top of the page, where you can choose any date range since the first day this campaign was created.

Search Engine

Ranking data for one search engine is shown at a time. Choose which search engine is displayed using the dropdown at the top of the page.
