Anchor Text is the clickable text used in a link. The Anchor Texts report helps you discover and analyze which anchor texts are used the most in links from external sites.

Getting Started

To view text used in links, navigate to Anchor Text under Link in the left navigation.

To look up anchor texts used in backlinks of any site, head to Link Research under Research in the left navigation, and enter in any root domain, URL, or subdomain, then click Linking Pages in the left navigation.

High-level metrics

At the top of the page, a high-level summary of link's data is shown.

  • Domain Authority: Provided by Moz, this is a score out of a total possible 100 predicting how well this domain will perform in search engine rankings, based primarily on the strength of the domain's backlink profile.

  • Page Authority: Similar to Domain Authority, this score predicts how well this page will perform in search engine rankings, based primarily on the strength of the URL's backlink profile.

  • Linking Domains: Number of domains that have at least 1 URL linking to this site.

  • Linking Pages: Number of URLs on external sites that have one or more links to this site.

  • Dofollow Pages: Number of pages that link to this site without the nofollow attribute, indicating the links will pass authority.

You can also see how each metric has changed in the last 60 days.

Anchor text

The bar chart shows the number of links using different anchor texts.

Look at the table under to see number of linking domains and pages of each anchor text.

  • Anchor text: The clickable text used for this backlink. Generally speaking, anchor texts containing targeted keywords are more valuable than branded terms or generic text (e.g. "click here").

  • Linking Domains: Number of domains that have at least 1 URL linking to this site.

  • Linking Pages: Number of URLs on external sites that have one or more links to this site.

Click View under Links with this Anchor Text to see all links using this anchor text. It will direct you to linking page, with a filter applied for the anchor text.

Exporting Data

Click the Export to Excel button in the upper right of the table to download the links.
