JavaScript (not to be confused with Java, which is of no relation) is one of the most common programming languages used on the Internet. While it is also used for server-side scripting, mobile applications, and desktop widgets, JavaScript is used to execute client-side scripts in the browser on almost every web page or web app on the Internet.

In the past, search engines do not crawl or interpret JavaScript code. Therefore, any content placed in JavaScript may be unavailable to be included in a search engines' index. However, in recent years, search engines like Google and Bing have improved their crawlers to render Javascript and able to index the webpages correctly.
